Do you sing in a choir or perform in an amateur music group? Do you want to understand better the music you are performing? Ever wanted to learn to read music but was put off by how complex it appears? This practical music skills course takes you through the basics of music theory as a first step towards reading music. It explains how music is notated and then how to interpret this into sound.
Course 1 (5-weeks): Rudimentary Skills – The Staff, Clefs, Pulse, Rhythm, Pitch, Structure, Melody Writing.
Module Aim: To provide basic theoretical skills so that students can work towards creating some music of their own which can be played or sung.
